ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Sandy Collier – Founder, Hey! Sandy PR & Communications

Born and raised in The Bahamas, Sandy Collier has let her deep love for her community guide many of the professional and personal decisions she has made throughout her life and career.

In 2000, she joined NewsRadio 610 WIOD as a reporter covering the Miami-Dade community. Sandy reported on many memorable events, including the Elian Gonzalez story, the hanging chad controversy in Palm Beach County, and local coverage during the September 11th attacks. Her own life even made headlines when she gave birth to her fifth child in the news car.

In 2006, Sandy welcomed her sixth child and only daughter. She took a few years off to focus on her growing family before moving to Colorado, then Cincinnati, Ohio, where she accepted a position as a weekend assignment editor. In 2011, due to her husband’s declining health, Sandy moved her family back to Florida to be closer to her extended family. Settling in West Palm Beach, she resumed her journalism career at WPEC, where she rose to Assignment Manager.

After four years, family became her top priority, so Sandy stepped away from the newsroom to launch her own PR firm, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Through Hey! Sandy PR & Communications, Sandy found her niche working with nonprofits, small businesses, and minority-owned enterprises—including Black-owned companies—that often feel professional PR services are out of reach. She also continues to pursue her passion for community service, leading major fundraisers and publicity efforts for The Bahamas.

Sandy is a graduate of St. Thomas University with a degree in Communications. She is the past president of the Gold Coast PR Council and a partner of Discover the Palm Beaches. She resides in Wellington, Florida, with her family. Known for her joyful personality, she isn’t shy about belting out a tune! She enjoys exercising with her daughter, spending time with her grandchildren, and relaxing with a nice glass of wine.
