About the Presenter

Katie Corum has a passion and strong desire to help others – particularly professionals who run businesses. HR is an integral part of all organizations and she has developed a proficiency in the field that can significantly benefit small business owners, startups, nonprofits, and HOA Presidents as well.  Katie Corum has 20+ years of HR experience having worked for various industries here in South Florida, such as Healthcare, Telecommunications, PEO (Outsourcing), Media, Waste Management, Academia Publishing, Cultural Arts, and Architectural Design.  Early in her career she worked for a start-up called Qtera which was acquired by Nortel Networks in which she then worked with their M&A Teams to onboard almost 400 employees in less than 10 months! She also has worked at various PEO’s including ADP Total Source, TriNet and Paychex, where she served as a Senior HR Business Partner for 60-100 small to mid-size businesses in South Florida.  Just over a year ago, Katie decided to follow her dream by founding her own company called SOAR HR Consulting, LLC, offering HR Consulting and Fractional HR services to small and mid-size businesses across the country and beyond. 

She is an Adjunct Professor at Palm Beach State College, teaching SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP exam prep courses, as well as SHRM Essentials to Management certification classes.  Katie has volunteered for 10 years with HR Palm Beach County SHRM in various roles (Hospitality, Community Relations/SHRM Foundation Chair, President Elect, President and Past President). During her Presidency, Katie led a Board of 28 members and a chapter of 420 HR professionals (4th largest HR SHRM Chapter in Florida).  Katie has both her PHR and SHRM-CP certifications, along with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Briar Cliff University (Sioux City, Iowa) and an MBA in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University (Davie, Florida). 

In Katie’s leisure time, she enjoys the beach, traveling, parks and local events with her husband, stepson and daughter. She strives to be a volunteer in her community as well thru VPK, HR Chapters, various Chamber of Commerce, ProVisors, PTA, and Junior Achievement groups.
