WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Audits and 990s are important parts of closing out a fiscal year successfully for nonprofits. Financial transparency is necessary for a nonprofit to have a trustworthy reputation in the community. This training will include discussion about the independent audit process, how to plan and prepare to complete an audit, the purpose of a 990, and how to complete and submit this form.
Light refreshments will be served.

ABOUT YOUR PRESENTERS
PAUL BERTONI
Paul joined the firm in 2008 and currently serves as a manager in the audit department.
Paul has successfully passed all four sections of the Uniform CPA Exam and is currently in the process of obtaining his CPA licensure in the state of Florida.
With extensive experience in audit services, he addresses the unique needs and challenges of our cornerstone industries, which include not-for-profits, employee benefit plans, country clubs, and small businesses.
Before joining Holyfield & Thomas, LLC, Paul gained valuable audit and assurance experience at a KPMG in Ontario, Canada.
GINA ARDILLO, CPA
Gina has twelve years of tax experience concentrating in services to the tax-exempt sector. She is a senior manager with Crowe LLP, where she serves healthcare organizations, colleges and universities, private foundations, and various other not-for-profit organizations. In addition to being well-versed in the IRS Form 990 Series, Gina corresponds with the IRS and state taxing authorities on behalf of her clients. Gina has provided consulting services to her clients on a number of issues impacting tax-exempt organizations, including in the areas of unrelated business income, section 4960 excise tax and implementation of other provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and 501(r) compliance. Gina has presented educational seminars on topics specific to exempt organizations, both internally for her colleagues and externally for her clients and other local organizations.
As a West Palm Beach resident, Gina enjoys giving back to her community. Gina has served on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of Nonprofits First since 2019 and has been volunteering weekly in cat adoptions at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League since 2020.
