SUMMARY:Refuel to Serve: Recognizing\, Preventing\, and Recovering from Compassion Fatigue
DESCRIPTION:Nonprofit work is deeply rewarding\, but consistently supporting others\, responding to complex needs\, and carrying the responsibility of service can take a toll on personal and professional well-being.Refuel to Serve is an interactive training designed to help nonprofit professionals recognize the signs and impact of compassion fatigue before depletion becomes the norm. Participants will explore how prolonged exposure to the needs and challenges of others can affect energy\, emotional capacity\, boundaries\, engagement\, and the ability to remain fully present in their work.Through guided reflection\, practical strategies\, and meaningful conversation\, participants will examine their own patterns\, identify areas where they may need to refuel\, and develop intentional practices that support resilience and sustainability. The session emphasizes that maintaining the capacity to serve others also requires recognizing and responding to our own needs.Participants will leave with practical tools they can apply both personally and professionally to continue serving with greater clarity\, intention\, and capacity.Expected Learning Outcomes:Recognize common signs\, risk factors\, and impacts of compassion fatigue in helping and service-oriented roles.Identify personal patterns\, boundaries\, and practices that can contribute to either depletion or resilience.Develop practical strategies to prevent and recover from compassion fatigue while strengthening the capacity to serve sustainably.Nonprofits First\, Inc is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP recertification activities.ABOUT THE SPEAKER:Kenyatta Connaway was born and raised in Riviera Beach Florida.
