Rick Christie, Executive Editor of The Palm Beach Post and, is the first person of color to run Palm Beach County’s oldest, largest, and most influential news organization. He is also Deputy Regional Editor for USA Today Network-Florida -- overseeing the Palm Beach Daily News, Treasure Coast Newspapers, and Florida Today.

He was previously Editorial Page Editor, supervising the Post’s award-winning Opinion Department from December 2013 to January 2021.

A Martin County native, Mr. Christie first worked at The Post as a business writer in the 1980s covering banking and finance. He left to report on banking, real estate, and the economy for The Wall Street Journal, and later as a senior business writer and assistant city editor for The Miami Herald.

He returned to The Post as State Editor in the mid-1990s and among other things, directed coverage of the historic Chiles vs. Bush gubernatorial election.

He moved to the Cox Newspapers Washington Bureau in 1995, working as Assistant National Editor for three years and Foreign Editor for three years. As Foreign Editor, Mr. Christie coordinated coverage in six foreign bureaus from Beijing and Moscow to Jerusalem and Mexico City.

Mr. Christie rejoined The Post’s Business Desk in 2002, as Assistant Managing Editor for Business News; he became Breaking News Editor in 2009; and Public Affairs Editor in 2012.

Since returning, he has directed everything from coverage of the Haiti earthquake to an investigation of felons operating kids’ summer camps to Florida’s real estate boom and bust to the election and inauguration of President Barack Obama.

He has won numerous state, national, and international awards; both as a reporter and an editor.

A graduate of Stuart-Martin County High School and the University of Florida, Mr. Christie and his wife, Klemie, live in Royal Palm Beach.
